As I sit here waiting for the weather to perk up, I have been looking back at old photos and trying a re-dit, what do you think?
We have been having A LOT of home days this past week. Cold weather, sick kids, I can’t even remember the last time I left the house. Fortunately things look like they are on the rise! Yesterday my daughter asked me if we could do a photo shoot of her and her doll in their matching Pajamas. Great idea J! M joined in at the end too, and it was a fun little session. Here are my favourites. She asked if I can canvas one of them to put over her bed. Only a photographers daughter…
Before we get to the goods of this post I thought I should mention how these photos officially came to be! I knew I wanted to do a photo session while I was in Hawaii, I mean who wouldn’t want to take pictures at the beach? And of course I knew I had the most beautiful cousin to work with! But, what really made these photos come alive is the editing. I am not tooting my own horn by any far cry…. you see, sometime last year I came across the amazing and talented work of Meg Bitton. I was hooked immediately. I showed my husband as I drooled over EACH and EVERY image, and he encouraged me to try to take a workshop with her. Originally I had planned to go to her and take a weekend workshop in person, but it made more sense to start with an online editing workshop. BEST decision by far in my photography career so far. You see Meg isn’t just an amazing photographer, she is an even better teacher! She doesn’t just shout out (or in this case type out ;)) a list of commands. She points out things that need work, she shows me where improvements can be made, and points me in the right direction. Her webinars completely blow me away, as I watch her edit image after image BY HAND to perfection, bringing out colours in the photo that you didn’t know where there, and making true works of art. She doesn’t use any actions, every image is individually edited so as to have complete control over the outcome. That is what she is teaching me. To have complete control and to use the tools in Photoshop to their full potential. I have no regrets, and am still only half way through! I can’t wait for the learning to continue!
Anyhoo here is Brittany in all her glory, expecting baby #2 and looking as amazing as can be! Does everyone envy her hair as much as me?!
This little one is my sweet nephew. He came into this world while I was on vacation in Hawaii; so we didn’t get a chance to do his photos until he was a month old! He was still a total trooper. Such a laid back little dude! Love him!
